Leah Sumner’s area of legal expertise is estate planning. With over 30 years of legal experience. Leah also practices in the related areas of legal areas of probate, real property, corporate and nonprofit organizations. Prior to practicing law in Newnan, she practiced with the international law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky and Walker in its Atlanta office. Leah is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is licensed to practice in the United States Tax Court as well as all Georgia federal and state courts. Leah was an inaugural member of the Georgia Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism and is an AV lawyer as rated by her peers for her legal expertise and professionalism. Her clients include individuals; estates; closely held and family owned entities; and tax exempt organizations. She works closely with other professional advisors to provide comprehensive planning advice to her clients. She is a frequent guest speaker on topics related to estate planning.
Leah is involved in a variety of community activities. She has served as a Trustee and Program Chair of the Leadership Georgia Foundation. She was the organizing Chairman of the Leadership Coweta program and a member of the Central Educational Center Steering Committee. She has served on the Boards of a local community bank, the Coweta Community Foundation and the Summit Family YMCA. She is a founding Board member and past chairman of Patrons of the Centre, Inc. supporting visual and performing arts education in Coweta County. She is also a member of the Keep Newnan Clean Commission, the Driftwood Garden Club and is actively involved in Central Baptist Church. She was a charter member of Masterworks Chorale in Newnan. Leah has been active in many school and athletic groups through her children.
Leah received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Vanderbilt University in Business and Public Policy. She received a Juris Doctor degree with honors from the University of Georgia.
